Handy Items to Keep in the Car

Monday, 23 March 2015

When learning how to drive, we are simultaneously learning many things. A sense of the road, learning to control the speed of the car, how fast we need to move according to the conditions of the road, etc. One of the most important things we learn is safety. Being able to drive a car is considered to be one of the defining characteristics of being an adult, as we have to learn to take responsibility for the safety of ourselves, our passengers, the pedestrians and the other motorists on the road as well.

This is the reason why we need to be completely aware of all the traffic rules, what all the signs mean, and what to do in emergency situations, such as if the breaks stop working, or we get a flat tyre while driving.

Quite a few of these ideas come after driving for a very long time. However, we should always be prepared to deal with a problem, and sometimes we can’t avoid a problem from occurring by experience alone. After all, it might just turn out that the other driver is not as experienced as you are. This is why we need to keep a few helpful items in the car with us at all times.

Keeping a well-stocked first aid kit is always handy. It doesn’t matter whether it is at home, at the workplace or in the car. Injuries, cuts and bruises are liable to happen anywhere. We might just slam the car’s door on our thumb; hit our head when exiting the door… anything is possible.
However, one of the most useful items that we can keep on ourselves at all times in our cars are emergency warning triangles. These warning triangles are made with reflective materials so that they are visible even when it is dark. Warning triangles are a fantastic way of informing the other drivers that you are facing a problem, and that they can drive around you so that no one gets harmed.  In South Africa, keeping these triangles is absolutely mandatory, and people who do not have one in their cars get fined.

So if you are looking for some of these handy items to keep with yourself, be sure to visit First Aid Kit, the premier suppliers of both first aid kits and emergency warning triangles in South Africa.
